This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the basics of data analysis and visualization in R. Attendees will learn how to import and explore data, perform simple data manipulation tasks, and create effective graphs using the ggplot2 package. No prior experience with R is required. By the end of the session, participants will be able to generate publication-quality visualizations and gain a foundation for further data analysis in R.

Introduction to Persistent Identifiers: ORCID and DOIs

Persistent identifiers (PIDs) help ensure that researchers, their work, and research outputs can be accurately identified, connected, and discovered. This introductory workshop provides an overview of two of the most widely used persistent identifiers: ORCID iDs for researchers and Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for scholarly works and other research outputs. Participants will learn what ORCID iDs and DOIs are, why they matter for research visibility and attribution, and how they support publishing, funding, data sharing, and long-term scholarly communication. Assistant Director for Research and Data Services Alexa Hight will also demonstrate how to create and maintain an ORCID iD and explain how DOIs are assigned and used to make research more discoverable and citable.
